Services & Installation

Does INTUS provide drafting and engineering?

Yes! INTUS has an in-house engineering and drafting team that performs wind load calculations specifically for a project and determines if the window designs are structurally feasible. Next, we supply detailed shop drawings for the permitting and construction process.  We also look at a project’s construction documents so we can provide project specific installation details and propose the best way to install our windows. These services result in a more structurally sound, thermally efficient, and quicker build. We can also provide third-party stamped engineering calculations on all of our projects.

Does INTUS handle the distribution and logistics?

Yes! We handle our projects from A-Z – estimation through installation support and walk throughs. Contact your INTUS so we can help you with your project.

Does INTUS train installers on how to install products?

Yes! Beyond our installation manual, adjustment guides, and installation videos, INTUS Technicians provide hands-on support to successfully start your installation team off, as well as pre-delivery meetings so that your team will be fully prepared when the windows arrive at the site.

Our technicians are also available for video call troubleshooting.

All of our windows and doors also come with a unique, project-specific QR code, making support quick and easy!

How can I order replacement parts?

Replacement parts and service requests are easily coordinated by either scanning the unique QR code on your window or door, or by filling out a Product/Service Request Form on our website.

Energy Efficiency & Certifications

Are INTUS Windows suitable for Passive House buildings?

Yes! Our windows are perfect for Passive House buildings! Our windows are part of the Passive House Institute United States (PHIUS) Verified Performance Data Program, a voluntary program that verifies the accuracy and appropriateness of the energy performance of our windows to accurately model passive energy balances. Learn more about this program here. We also have windows which are Passive House Institute (PHI) certified for multiple climate zones!

Are INTUS Windows suitable for LEED buildings?

Yes! Our windows are able to gain up to 44 LEED points through the LEED Categories of Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation. Check out opportunities by viewing our LEED chart.

About polymer

What is uPVC (commonly known as polymer in the U.S.)?

  • uPVC is PVC with no plasticizers, or unplasticized polyvinyl chloride – sometimes known as rigid PVC or Polymer in the U.S.
  • uPVC is made with a special formulation in which modifiers and lead-free stabilizers are added to PVC so it becomes rigid, making it suitable for window frames
  • uPVC is a rigid, chemically resistant form of PVC used for  pipework, window frames, and other structures

Not all polymer or uPVC is the same. INTUS takes steps to ensure our polymer is free of toxins like lead, BPA, and phthalates. Plus, we offset the carbon from our buildings through our One Window, One Tree program.

How do polymer windows compare to aluminum windows?

Aluminum is 1,078 times more conductive than polymer and polymer is a top-performing material in energy efficiency and sound insulation. Combine that with INTUS’ innovative features and commitment to sustainability, and the result is extremely energy efficient windows. That’s why we say our products are built to be energy efficient.

Can polymer be used in high-rise applications?

Yes! Polymer is a self-extinguishing material. It has been validated through ASTM E84 testing to be used in mid-rise and high-rise applications.

Can polymer be recycled?

Yes! The polymer that INTUS uses can be recycled up to 7 times, and the steel and glazing components can also be recycled. Polymer windows provide the best balance of price, performance, and eco-friendliness when compared to vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum, and wooden windows.

Do INTUS' windows off-gas or have lead, BPA, or phthalates?

No! Our products do not off-gas or contain any of these contaminants. We have a lead-free certificate available upon request and our products are eligible for the following LEED points within the Building Product Disclosure & Optimization category:

  • Product Ingredients (2 points)
  • Material Ingredients (2 points)
